Not everyone gives a hoot about the matter, but it seems as if anyone who does is fully engaged and speaking their piece. And while there is the usual degree of knuckleheaded name-calling, there is perhaps a surprising amount of thoughtful, informed discussion among people on both sides of the debate. It's no secret where The Spectator stands on this matter. We've argued repeatedly that the west harbour offers the best potential for redevelopment and city building. But we also agree with the position put forward by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce this week, which is that the evaluation process now under way on both sites needs to run its course, at which point all we can all can evaluate current and comprehensive evidence, and make a decision based on that.
